About the show
Welcome to TRIPOLOGY! We’re a couple of backpackers who became hooked on exploring the world. Now, with a decade of travel under our bum bags, we’re sharing all our knowledge and experiences with you.
We met back in 2021, on a small hobby farm in British Columbia, Canada. Instantly forming a strong connection due to our shared love of travel (and talking), we immediately hatched a plan to start a travel podcast. 18 months later we launched TRIPOLOGY!
It’s been fun and hard work in equal measures, and we’ve learned an awful lot along the way. We’ve managed to retain our insatiable desire to experience this wonderful world, often travelling together.
The aim of TRIPOLOGY is to give you the belief you can integrate travel into your life. Is a holiday once a year sufficient? You wouldn’t have read this far if it was!
We hope you find the podcast of value, and please send us a message if you’d like to say hello!
Loaded with extraordinary travel stories, backpacking tips and travel advice, come join the global community.
Love from Adam & Alun
MEET THE HOSTs…
Adam CousinS
Born in the very, very late 80s, just outside London (UK), I lived a fairly conventional life up until my mid-20s. I remember feeling an immense amount of pressure as a teenager, being asked to choose between options I simply wasn’t interested in.
I swerved university, opting for an entry-level role in Finance. Quickly realising I wasn’t designed for the corporate world, I questioned whether a solo backpacking trip would suit me. Swiftly handing in my notice and booking a one-way ticket to Russia, I finally felt alive.
That was back in 2014. I’ve now been living around the world for 10 years. I tend to travel slowly, living for long periods in fewer places, punctuating those immersive stints with backpacking trips or the occasional home visit.
My passions are food & drink and languages. I’ll be the first one to admit I eat an unhealthy amount of food: I often consume 6 meals a day, trying as many dishes as possible. I speak French, some Spanish, and a teeny amount of Japanese. I intend on dedicating the next 10 years to more eating, drinking, and language learning. And exercise… I must start exercising.
I don’t believe in fate but I do believe in seizing opportunities when they present themselves, and meeting someone as extraordinary as Alun happens extremely rarely- funnily enough, usually travelling!
If TRIPOLOGY gives even one person the inspiration and motivation to swim against the current and achieve their travel dreams, it will have done its job!
ALUN DAVIES
At 21 years old I woke up with a perturbing sense that life was about to become an uncomfortable treadmill of desperately working, spending, renting, resting, and repeating.
That year, I decided to book a one-way flight to China because I thought that’d be the biggest culture shock.
Armed with not-enough-money and not-enough-experience, I set out with the intention to travel around Asia for one year.
A decade later I’m still going, figuring it out along the way…
One day, I met Adam on a farm in British Columbia, and he sparked the seed of an idea that would later grow into TRIPOLOGY.
For me, the show is an investment into a community which has given me everything. I want to inspire other would-be travellers to explore the world, and flip the proverbial monopoly board on its head.
